| "...serve the Communities in which we live and work, giving back whenever and wherever we can." |
| |
|
Here at Miron, we’re proud to play an active role in our communities by contributing to projects that make them wonderful places in which to live, work and play. Each year, Miron contributes over $750,000 to community projects, organizations and events.
Miron typically focuses on assisting and supporting those in the community who are disadvantaged in some way, especially if those individuals are children. Miron is dedicated to helping today’s youth, by providing education, constructing community facilities in which they can learn and grow, and hosting events to ensure their basic needs are met and that they have the opportunity to escape the harsh realities of their day-to-day lives from time to time.
A few examples of the projects/events we sponsor and support:

Quarry Quest
As a major sponsor of Quarry Quest, Miron helps to provide a better understanding of geology, mining and construction to all ages at the annual family outing and fundraiser in Neenah, Wis. With nearly 1,000 volunteers, the event offers several hands-on educational activities, including “prospecting” for fool’s gold, mixing concrete, and driving machinery. The event attracts an average of 15,000 people each year. Since its inception nine years ago, Quarry Quest has raised over $700,000, with all proceeds going to local children’s charitable organizations. |

Fox Cities Marathon
In addition to a significant financial donation, Miron contributes time and materials to the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, which attracts close to 6,000 participants. Employees from Miron participate on committees during the planning of the event and also volunteer for the races–working the water stations and assisting with set-up and signage. Held in September in the Fox Valley, the festival of races includes a marathon, half-marathon, a 5K run/walk, and a kids fun run. Each year, the event raises funds for charitable organizations. In 2008, proceeds from the event benefited the Alzheimer's Association, Special Olympics, and the Veterans Memorial Museum (Oshkosh).

Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas Party – Neenah, Wausau and Madison
Miron has been privileged to host yearly Christmas parties for children from the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program at Miron’s regional offices in Wausau and Madison, and at their corporate office in Neenah. Based on recommendations from the BBBS program, Miron invites up to a dozen children, their Bigs, and families for some crafts, lunch, a visit with Santa and (of course) presents. Families are sent home with enough goodies to make a nice holiday feast as well. Miron employees donated and raised money to sponsor the event, and numerous employees acted as Santa’s little elves when it came time to shop. |

Earth Day
Miron Construction Co., Inc. hosted more than 600 area elementary students throughout the day to share the importance of Earth Day, explaining ways in which they can each help to conserve and protect the environment. In the morning, students gathered inside Miron’s atrium to watch a short video, The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, a tale about the importance of taking care of the environment. Afterward, students participated in some hands-on Earth Day activities. In the afternoon, members of the Miron team, including their new Director of Sustainable Services, Theresa Lehman, traveled to Clintonville School District to speak at Longfellow Elementary School. Watch the video. |
