Iowa State University
College of Design - King Pavilion

Ames, Iowa

The two-story building addition’s “pavilion” design sets it slightly apart from the main building. The building houses the freshman core design program and second year architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design studio classrooms that facilitate interaction and exploration of ideas. The open studio classroom environment is organized around a central core space that functions as a flexible experimentation space. The project also creates a “living laboratory” that demonstrates sustainability and sustainable design to the students learning in the facility.
